Q1:What is your position and at which school?

Medical Student at the University of Toronto

Q2: Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Mohamed and I will be starting my first year of medical school at the University of Toronto! I graduated from Kinesiology and Health Science (BSc) at York University. During my undergrad, I was able to maintain a high level of extracurricular involvement in the Kinesiology and Health Science Student Organization (KAHSSO), the Undergraduate Health Research Exploration (UHRE) program, and many student governance positions. I was also involved with research in the field of muscle physiology by exploring the connection between interstitial glucose and neuromuscular fatigue. I also enjoy reading, baking/cooking, writing poetry, and listening to movie soundtracks.

Q3: What do you think contributed the most to your success?

The key to my success was not necessarily my high level of involvements but it was how I framed these involvements in my autobiographical sketch, my personal essays, and the interview process. Through continuous feedback from others who have successfully gone through the process and focus on rooting my responses in the CanMEDS roles, the process became much more seamless. I would like to help you frame your experiences in the right way to increase your chances of success!

Q4: What was your application journey like?

I applied to both the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa. I got accepted into the University of Toronto and waitlisted at the University of Ottawa. Catering my interview style towards the vMPI style of UofT med and the panel interview style of uOttawa med required a lot of flexibility on my side. The key to succeeding in both styles though was being able to find the similarities and differences between the two styles. With the help of consultants, peers, and med students who had successfully gone through the process, I developed the skills necessary to my success. I learned how to effectively and succinctly frame my experiences in my OMSAS application and respond to interview questions in an organized and professional manner.

Q5: What services do you offer?

The services that I offer include: Casper Preparation, Interview Preparation, Application Editing, General Consultation, Personal Statement Editing.

Q6: What’s your biggest tip for students applying to your field?

My biggest tip for applying students is to stay persistent and to always seek feedback and think of ways to effectively implement that feedback. The application process is long and difficult. Nonetheless, it will all be worth it once you make it through. I would be very honoured to stand by your side as you make it through this process!
