Q1:What is your position and at which school?

Medical Student at the University of Toronto.

Q2: Tell us a bit about yourself!

I have just completed my first year of medical school and I am looking to give back to incoming medical students! I love to teach, I have ample experience tutoring students at Kumon, Tutor Doctor and as an undergraduate teaching assistant. I like to develop relationships with my students and provide a safe and encouraging learning environment. I have informally helped students with their medical school applications and received positive feedback. I also love movies, working out, and being outdoors!

Q3: What’s one thing that others may not know about you?

I have been to Italy almost every summer but still have not grasped the language…

Q4: If you didn’t go into the field you are in right now, what field would you have gone into?

Politics, preferably public health related. I am a strong advocate for change and have many ideas that I would like to come into fruition.

Q5: What is the most difficult interview question in your opinion?

Abstract questions, for example, if you were a fruit what would you be…

Q6: What do you think contributed the most to your success?

I believe my drive and goal-setting contributed the most to my success. I put a great deal of effort into applying to medical school and set strict deadlines for myself. At the same time, I gave myself allotted breaks and still enjoyed going out to ensure I did not get burnt out. Additionally, the support of others truly helped me emotionally as well as provided me with insight and needed advice.

Q7: What was your application journey like?

It was long and stressful, but overall exciting. In the summer going into my third year of university, I started very slowly studying for the MCAT, a year in advance. Then a month prior to writing it in May, when I completed my third year of university, I studied consistently. In the beginning of my fourth year of university, I spent a month or two working on my applications to Ontario schools, devoting more time to that than my university courses. Then I slowly started looking into interview prep and questions independently. When I heard back from a school in March I started to prep with Accepted Together and some family members more diligently. Overall, I had to set my priorities during that year but it was all worth it!

Q8: Would you like to share some statistics with us? (This can be in the form of GPA/MCAT/Casper scores, the number of schools you applied to and got accepted, etc.)

My GPA calculated on OMSAS was 3.98. My MCAT score was 129/129/130/129. I was in the 3rd quartile for CASPER. I applied to all of the Ontario schools, was interviewed at McMaster and UofT and was accepted to UofT.

Q9: What services do you offer?

Application editing, resource sharing, interview prep and general advice

Q10: What’s your biggest tip for students applying to your field?

You can truly do anything you set your mind to. Many people have their own opinions and biases but as long as you set your priorities and enjoy the process you can make it!

Q11: Why should students choose you as their consultant?

I will provide my honest opinions and feedback and will make students feel comfortable! I know what it is like to be in that position and will do all that I can to help support any student. I personally used this service for my own interview prep and applications for school and it significantly helped me, being someone with no prior experience or other help. I will share the resources and questions I was provided to help with my acceptance as well as any additional ones.
